INVOICING GUIDE

Which payment terms should your invoice use?

Payment terms set the latest date by which the client must pay. Before work begins, confirm terms that both the client and WorkNode can approve, and use the same terms on the invoice.

01 · THE BASICS

What do payment terms mean?

Payment terms specify how long the client has to pay. Short terms do not help if the client’s purchasing process takes longer or the invoice lacks the correct reference.

Between businesses, payment must normally be made within 30 days of a payment demand. A longer period may apply if the creditor has expressly approved it. WorkNode issues the invoice and must therefore be able to approve the terms.

02 · OPTIONS

Compare 10, 15 and 30 days

10 days

May suit a smaller assignment when the client confirms that the invoice can be processed quickly.

15 days

Allows more processing time while keeping the wait shorter than 30 days.

30 days

Common in larger purchasing processes and means a longer wait for the client’s payment.

No single term is always best. Choose a realistic option that the client and WorkNode can confirm.

03 · BEFORE STARTING

Ask the client before you begin

  • Which payment terms can the client approve?
  • Is a purchase order, project number or other reference required?
  • Which legal entity and billing address should be used?
  • Must the invoice be sent electronically, through a portal or another channel?
  • Who reviews and approves the invoice?

04 · TEMPLATE

Confirm in writing

05 · AFTER THE DUE DATE

If the client pays late

Contact WorkNode if the due date passes. Do not change the terms, promise credit or start your own collection process without first consulting WorkNode.
