Software and subscriptions
Software and licences as an expense – is it allowed?
For freelancers who invoice through WorkNode without their own company.
Not approved
No, ongoing licences, cloud services and subscriptions cannot be added as an expense.
Why?
Licences and subscriptions often run for months or years, while an assignment may last a few days or weeks. That is why they cannot be linked to a single assignment, and they can be used privately.
Good to know
- A one-off purchase used only in the assignment, such as an image licence, may be assessed differently.
How it works through WorkNode
The expense is booked by WorkNode as your employer. If the cost is private, it counts as a benefit, and you would then pay tax and we would pay employer contributions on it. That is why we only approve costs that belong to the assignment.
