From freelance race to freelance flow
Hello!
You didn't start freelancing to spend every Sunday night scrolling job ads, slightly panicked about the next paycheck.
You might think: "If I do a good job, deliver on time and am nice - it'll just keep going."
Do you recognize yourself?
Then you're stuck in a grinding loop: new project â done â looking for new.
Every month is a new race. And it works. Most of the time.
So here's a tip:
Stop treating every mission as an ending.
Start seeing them as the beginning of something longer.
It sounds simple - but it requires you to start thinking more like a strategic partner than a hired resource.
đ Here's how to do it in practice:
1. ask (many) more questions
Already during the first meeting: what do they want to achieve in three months? What is failing? What do they never have time for?
đ That kind of answer hides the next mission.
2. Plant seeds - in the middle of the project
Do you see something they should fix in the future? Mention it. In a relaxed way. Like:
"Might be worth a look after this - just a thought!"
3. make "next steps" easy
Before you say goodbye: make a concrete suggestion of what you could do next.
No sales pitch. Just:
"I was thinking - let's have a chat next week?"
đ€ What about old clients?
Check your inbox. Who was fun to work with six months ago?
Send a short email:
"Hi! Thought of you. How are things going with [old project]? Would you like to have a quick chat about what's happening this fall?"
đ„ A more efficient mindset:
Freelancing smart doesn't mean more work. It means fewer new client calls.
And yes - it's totally okay to want it a little easier.
We are rooting for you. Always.
