Work Environment & Whistleblowing

Work environment

As a self-employed worker through Worknode, your work environment is important. The responsibility for your work environment rests with you, your client and us at Worknode. A good working environment means that you do not risk getting sick or injured at work. You shouldn't get body aches from sitting wrong or doing the same movements for hours on end. Nor should you lose control of a vehicle or hurt yourself on a machine. It can also be about having the right lighting, being able to lift without getting hurt, or not feeling threatened at work. Equally important is having a good psychological and social work environment. Excessive workload is an example of when it is not a good working environment. If you have too much to do, or if you feel that you are not doing enough even though you are working hard, you may become ill. The social work environment is about how you feel at work with your colleagues. If you feel lonely, excluded or left out in a workplace, you may become ill.

Before you start your assignment at a workplace

As a self-employed worker, you are often new to the workplace as each workplace is unique, with its own culture, working environment and particular risks. Make sure you get enough information from your employer about the workplace where you will be working.

If you are working at home, in a public place or in another place that is not a controlled workplace, you are entirely responsible for your work environment. Make sure you take the time to think about the risks and the possibilities to influence your work environment yourself to avoid injuries.

In a workplace

When you start a new job, there is a lot that is new. It is therefore important that you receive a proper introduction to your tasks and the risks involved.

During an introduction, you will be informed about

  • the tasks and how to perform them

  • manuals, checklists and other written instructions needed for the work

  • the risks of accidents at work and how to protect yourself against them

  • what personal protective equipment is available and how to use it

  • how any tools, machines and other equipment work

  • where fire and first aid equipment is located, and how alarm procedures work.

It is also important that you receive information about

  • the general routines in the workplace, premises, break and lunch times and other things that make it easier for you to feel involved

  • who to contact with questions about the working environment

  • who your line managers and supervisors are, if any. You will also be informed about safety representatives and trade union representatives.

Speak up if you don't understand or if you still feel unsure about how to perform the task. Learning a new task can take time so make sure you get the time you need. This is important - a good induction reduces the risk of getting injured at work.

Dare to ask and speak up

You should not get sick or injured from your work. Nor should you get back pain or stiffness from doing the same movements for hours on end. Your employer must ensure a good working environment, but cannot know everything that happens. Therefore, you also have a responsibility. You must follow the instructions provided at the workplace and use any protective equipment. Make sure you get a good introduction and if you discover that there are any shortcomings in the work environment that could lead to injuries, you should immediately contact your client in the first instance, if there is no change, contact Worknode , support@worknode.se.

Whistleblowing

Worknode wants to protect and safeguard those who blow the whistle on misconduct at their client and within the company's operations. For Worknode, it is of the utmost importance that such misconduct is brought to the company's attention so that the misconduct can be corrected in the best and most expeditious way possible. Therefore, there is a whistleblowing policy with a reporting channel that must be followed in order to raise the alarm about misconduct that may in one way or another damage or negatively affect the company or the company's employees. The whistleblowing system is operated by the Labor Law Office MBL 11.

In the event that the misconduct only occurs in the client's business, the client's whistleblowing system (if any) should be used in the first instance.
